Project Description
Safeway is an American supermarket chain with locations throughout the western and central United states. In Hawaii, where energy prices are notoriously high, Safeway was looking to offset these costs for three stores located in Hilo, Ewa Beach and Honolulu.
REC Solar was contracted as the EPC to build three rooftop systems. At the Hilo location, our team navigated frequent rain during construction. The Honolulu store was highly trafficked, with a parking structure underneath the store and no room to stage the project outside of the building footprint. Our engineering and construction teams used careful planning to overcome these challenges and build a portfolio of successful projects that are significantly reducing store operating costs.
