Project Description
RJUHSD is dedicated to helping ignite, inspire and prepare its 10,000 high school-aged students for the real world. It’s part of a community that cares about education and the environment. To make these big goals reality, the District is always seeking better ways to cut costs across its nine schools.
After an independent evaluation, placing solar parking structures at Granite Bay High School was the most financially viable choice. Using California Energy Commissions Prop 39 grants and Measure D bond funds, the solar will save the district more than $8 million dollars over 25 years.
“Covered parking is very popular with students and staff, particularly as the climate changes and temperatures rise. Yet it’s our ability to cut our carbon footprint in the nearterm, reduce costs for decades, and do it all now that makes going solar at Granite Bay such a great win for our community.”Dr. Denise Herrmann, RJUHSD Superintendent
