Project Description
Nestle Purina is a top manufacturer of pet food and products. For two of their pet food production facilities in Colorado and Arizona, the company wanted to lower energy costs using available roof space.
REC Solar was awarded the engineering, procurement, and construction contract for the 427 kW DC rooftop installation at the Nestle Purina PetCare facility in Flagstaff, Arizona. The system generates over 525,000 kWh annually, which is equivalent to the CO2 emissions from over 900 barrels of oil consumed. For the facility in Denver, Colorado, a combination of solar system rebates, federal tax credits and depreciation allowed Nestlé Purina to recoup 68 percent of the cost of the system in the first year of operations.
