Project Description
Cal State Fullerton is an intellectual and cultural center for Southern California. The extensive campus uses a large amount of energy and university leaders sought to build a platform of sustainability that included solar arrays to offset energy costs.
REC Solar was brought on board by AECOM to procure and install a 1.16 MW roof and carport mounted solar system. AECOM was responsible for the design of the system and REC Solar procured all materials and performed the installation.
The project consisted of three separate systems on the Performing Arts building, the Kinesiology & Health Sciences building and on a parking structure. The parking structure was originally designed and constructed with solar carports in mind; therefore, carports were erected on existing columns and the solar modules mounted to the finished steel structure.
The project was constructed within the required summer schedule to accommodate the fall school session and presence of students and faculty.
