UPDATE: Georgia Rolls Out Advanced Solar Initiative for Commercial and Utility-Scale Solar

Jan 25

Georgia Power is aggressively moving forward with the Georgia Power Advanced Solar Initiative (GPASI). The initiative creates the largest voluntarily-developed solar portfolio from an investor-owned utility. Georgia Power will acquire 210 megawatts of additional solar capacity through long-term contracts over a two-year period.

To meet this target, Georgia Power's Utility Scale program will acquire 60MW of 1-20MW projects annually via competitive solicitation that has already been submitted to the state’s Public Service Commission, and is likely to open for proposals in April 2013. Additionally, this year will see a new distributed generation program providing opportunities for up to 45 megawatts with specific categories for small- (less than 100kW) and medium-scale (100-1,000kW) commercial projects. The program is expected to open for applications in March 2013. For more information on this opportunity, contact REC Solar today.
