Solar Trees Take Root in Gresham

For those wondering about the aesthetics of solar power systems, Gresham City Hall has planted a pair of "solar trees" that beautifully showcase the city’s sustainability efforts.

Each 18-foot sculpture has two “branches” topped with thin solar panels. Those systems will soon be joined by a 91-kilowatt system atop a parking lot carport.

“The product provides a really unique image of solar power,” said Andy Noel, director of utility business development for REC Solar, which led the design and installation of the projects.
