In 2008, REC Solar was selected to install a solar electric system that would provide clean energy for the Athenian School’s operations. REC Solar formed a partnership with Tioga Energy to provide PPA financing options to the school at a savings from the cost of the local utility, PG&E, while also overcoming the challenges of stabilizing a hillside to safely accommodate the system.
Kauai Community College
Hawaii 83 kW
REC Solar designed and installed an 83.25 kW roof-mounted system for the One Stop Center building at the Kauai Community College that produces approximately 125,000 kWh annually. The system includes Mitsubishi 185 watt polycrystalline modules and a Solectria grid-tied inverter.
Fullerton | California 1.16 MW
As the CSU Fullerton campus continues to incorporate sustainable energy sources onto their main campus, REC Solar was brought on board by AECOM to procure and install a 1.16 MW roof and carport mounted solar system. The project was constructed within the required summer schedule to accommodate the fall school session and presence of students and faculty.
Redondo Beach USD
Redondo Beach | CALIFORNIA 1.4 MW total
In October 2013 REC Solar was given Notice to Proceed to design and install carport-mounted solar photovoltaic systems totaling 1.4 MW at schools within the Redondo Beach School District. The systems are being installed using Yingli 305-watt modules and SMA TriPower string inverters. Construction started in July 2013 and was completed in November 2014.
Lihue, Kauai | Hawaii 292 kW
REC Solar designed and installed this 292 kW fixed tilt, ground mounted system for Island School, an independent K-12 school near Lihue on the east side of the island of Kauai. This system generates approximately 424,000 kWh of electricity each year.
Poway Unified School District
Poway | California 694 kW
REC Solar installed solar PV systems at four schools in Poway, CA. The total size of all systems combined is 694 kW with production of over 1,000,000 kWh per year. REC Solar handled all engineering, procurement, and construction for the project, as well as all DSA (Division of State Architect) approval and solar education.
Arizona Public Service (APS) Schools
15 Cities | Arizona 4.1 MW
Awarded under the Arizona Public Service (APS) Schools and Government Program, REC Solar has completed solar installations totaling over 4.1 MW at K-12 schools in 7 school districts. The systems provide enough power to reduce the schools’ electricity bills by up to 50% while offering educational opportunities for K-12 students and teachers.
Nazareth Middle School
Nazareth | Maryland 593 kW
REC Solar and Kenyon Energy partnered to provide a high quality solar installation that will provide power through a PPA to Nazareth Middle School at a pre-determined price for the next 20 years. Special design considerations were taken to ensure that the system could be installed to produce the maximum kWh possible. Construction began in October of 2011 and substantial completion achieved December 15, 2011.
