Nestlé Purina PetCare, unveiled the state’s largest, privately owned solar-panel installation at the company’s petfood plant in Denver. The plant’s 467-panel system covers about 21,000 square feet on the south-facing roof of the plant. It’s capable of producing 100 kilowatts of power, about 1 percent of the plant’s electricity needs. With the combination of Xcel’s solar system rebates, federal tax credits and depreciation, Nestlé Purina will recoup 68 percent of the cost of the system in the first year of operations.
